Khao Phing Kan — better known as James Bond Island — sits inside Phang Nga Bay Marine National Park, an hour by longtail boat from either Phuket or Krabi.
Go early. By 10 a.m. the small viewing beach fills with tour groups. A 6:30 a.m. departure gets you there with the karst almost to yourself.
Combine the visit with a stop at Koh Panyee — the floating Muslim fishing village built entirely on stilts — for lunch on the water.
